KAMBODJA FLOWERS, Frangipani in Motion
Montreal, 2024
KAMBODJA FLOWERS distills Juan Iskandar’s vision into something quiet, focused, and deeply rooted. The collection draws its soul from the Frangipani, or Bunga Kamboja—a flower that carries both softness and gravity in Indonesian culture. It symbolizes purity, transition, and the delicate space between life and death. That duality becomes the foundation of the work.
A collection shaped by two homelands
Iskandar’s creative language has always lived between Indonesia and Montréal. The silhouettes, light and fluid, echo the curve of Frangipani petals. Embroidery and surface details nod to the craft traditions of Bali and Borneo islands. The palette moves from pale, powdery tones to saturated tropical hues, reflecting the way memory shifts from subtle to vivid.
